From South America to Asia - Young Baden-Württemberg Ambassadors all across the Globe
China, India, Turkey, Brazil, USA, France, Great Britain, Russia, Greece, Thailand, Japan and Mexico: Baden-Württemberg enjoys fruitful industrial and trade connections with all these countries. In order to intensify these links, the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts Baden-Württemberg and the Agency for International Economic Co-operation has introduced the concept of creating ambassadors for Baden-Württemberg.

The concept designed to provide students with detailed insight into the southwest German region, is an innovative way to train future decision-makers about the region when they return and enter various professional fields in their native countries. Because who else knows more about intercultural relations, the finer points of language and the area than academics who have learnt about the state at first hand.

Therefore 14 academics specialising in the field of science, information technology, business and languages were invited to a 3-day seminar in Stutt-gart, the capital of Baden-Württemberg. The days, which focused on various key aspects - Economics, Research and Culture, were filled with various events. The young academic representatives, who normally spend most of their leisure time concentrating on their studies, were given information that they would otherwise not have time to attain or experience: “I think, we had the opportunity to learn a lot of facts we were not aware of - Baden-Württemberg is on the top position economically and is much more international that I thought it would be,” says Prakash Mohan who studies computer studies at the University of Tübingen. Furthermore they are now in an ideal position to pass this information on.

Equipped with the knowledge and facts to be able to create a presentation on the economical and educational landscape of Baden-Württemberg, the representatives are eager to start their new function: “I have realised how many opportunities Baden Württemberg offered to us, as foreign students, in terms of research and education. This information is very useful to the prospective students in my country because they can acquire the chances that nowhere else can offer these to them,” comments Roman from Russia who studies German and History.

The representatives will act as links to Baden-Württemberg and provide first-hand information to decision-makers and academics in their country, in addition to this, they will able to integrate the Agency for International Economic Co-operation Baden-Württemberg in their networks providing trade opportunities for both parties.
