Universität. An university is an institution of higher (or tertiary) education and research which grants academic degrees in a variety of subjects and provides both undergraduate education and postgraduate education.
University Entrance Qualification
Dozent. A person who gives lectures or other public speeches.
University of Applied Sciences
Fachhochschule. An institution of higher education and sometimes research, which provides both tertiary and sometimes quaternary education and grants academic degrees at all levels (bachelor, master, and sometimes doctorate) in a variety of subjects. Established in the 1970s the institution has become extremely popular due to its highly practical Approach.
University of Education
Pädagogische Hochschule. Higher education institution in Baden-Württemberg, equivalent in status to the universities offering courses of study for teaching careers at primary level and certain teaching careers at lower secondary level.
University of Excellence
Exzellenzuniversität. The Excellence Initiative of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the German Research Foundation aims to promote cutting-edge research and to create outstanding conditions for young scholars at universities, to deepen cooperation between disciplines and institutions, to strengthen international cooperation of research, and to enhance the international appeal of excellent German universities.
